The Natural Characteristics of a Good Telemarketer
When it comes to finding employment in telemarketing what type of characteristics do you think employers are looking for when hiring? Well along with good phone etiquette, individuals should have good negotiation techniques as well. This doesn’t mean that you are the kind of person who has to force your opinion onto someone, in fact, a good negotiator will invariably be first and foremost a good listener.
Not only will you need to hear the words a customer is saying, you will have to show empathy and understand what a customer’s reason is for saying what they’ve said and sometimes understand their hidden motives. Only when you are truly on the same wavelength as a customer can you satisfactorily answer their queries and problems in a manner that will give confidence and allay fears. This advanced skill will allow you to be the most successful in this form of business.
Additionally, you should be able to remain cool and calm when you are confronted with problems as well. Remember, most of the time people are mad about a specific item or situation, not the person they are talking to on the phone.
Although you can improve your skills in these areas, it is obviously much easier if you naturally have these tendencies in your personality if you are considering a career in telemarketing.
