Getting the tone in your calls pitch perfect, doesn’t have to be difficult, in fact it’s even easier if you have a positive mental attitude. To an extent it is important for you to match your customer’s tone, but only in the instance that their tone isn’t aggressive or negative. In the instance that your customer seems irritated or aggressive, it is important to do the opposite of matching their tone, and continue to remain calm at all times. Be passionate about what you are offering the prospect, and your tone will follow suit, encouraging the prospect to match your tone instead of the other way round.
Quickly recognising the pace in which your prospect adopts, is important in taking control of the call. Initially match the customers speed and then attempt to slow down the call as you go on, once you initiate their interest you will find customers will match your tempo.
Using the power of your own volume can communicate confidence and passion. Again, use your volume to mirror that of the customer, until you have initiated interest and taken full control of the call. Use your volume to emphasise important information or USP’s (unique selling points) that will enable you to sell to the customer and attract their attentions to those parts of your pitch.
