5 Top Tips to Telemarketing Success

August 13, 2009

1.Know your audience. You need to have some degree of knowledge of the companies you are calling. Look on the internet find companies in the same type of business. You do not need to know it chapter and verse but a basic knowledge of what they do make you sound more professional.

2.State the benefits. When speaking to decision makers state the benefits of the product or service you are offering. You need to grab their attention. What is it you are offering that makes you a cut above the rest? Remember once you have their interest the close is easy!

3.Silence is golden. Always give the person on the other end of the phone time to digest what you have just said. There is no point in sounding like a runaway train it frustrates the listener.

4.Don’t ask closed questions. This is crucial when booking appointments don’t ask “Are you free next Friday?” this gives a definite day and can simply be answered. “Yes” or “No”. Instead ask “What day will you be available next week?” You can apply this kind of questioning to anything. Remember the 5 W’s. What, why, when, will and would. Apply these to the questions you are asking.

5.Use Good Data. Finally the data you use makes the campaign successful. Always try to use good quality, cleaned and up to date data.
