Why Customers Are Afraid of Telemarketers

Companies use telemarketers to generate leads and sales for their company. The problem is that more and more people are actually becoming afraid of telemarketers. Not in a general sense but they are completely afraid of getting talked into something that they do not want.

It’s not uncommon to hear news stories of telemarketers who have taken advantage of customers using a variety of different tactics. People are also becoming more and more aware of the telemarketing scams that are out there and are literally afraid to pick up their phones. Not to mention that they are probably annoyed just by the sight of a number popping up on their caller ID that they don’t know.

To gain the trust of a customer you must build rapport with them. Speak with them and be friendly. Always answer any questions and don’t talk to people – talk with people! There is a world of difference between a prrehearsed speech, and good conversation.

You need to demonstrate that you care about their needs and have no desire or intention of taking their money and running. They’ll appreciate your phone call more if you’re friendly, honest and informative. If you can’t answer questions they have, they certainly aren’t going to trust your product or service.
