The DMC, or to give it it's full title, the Direct Marketing Commission has been unveiled as the new independent self-regulating organisation for the direct marketing industry in the UK. The body will look into complaints of underhand and non-ethical marketing practices from the general public and UK businesses. The DMC will be at the forefront of the direct marketing sectors goal of being a more active and enforced self-regulating industry.

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the main central register to "opt out" or register your preference so as not to receive unsolicited telephone calls to your home or mobile for sales and marketing. It then is a legal condition that a telemarketing company or in fact any other business, organisation or charity does not make sales calls to registered numbers without specific consent to do so.
